Information Technology Security Administrator (Public Sector) Overview
Our public sector client is seeking an experienced Information Technology Security Administrator to support the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of enterprise information systems. This individual will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving cybersecurity controls, technologies, and processes while ensuring compliance with applicable security standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Work Schedule: This position is 100% onsite during the initial onboarding and training period (approximately the first six months). Following that period, there is the potential for a hybrid work schedule based on employee performance, successful onboarding, and agency/business needs.

Our public sector client is seeking an experienced Information Technology Security Administrator to support the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of enterprise information systems. This individual will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving cybersecurity controls, technologies, and processes while ensuring compliance with applicable security standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform gap analyses between security policies, standards, and current practices; recommend remediation strategies and process improvements.
- Assist in establishing, documenting, and maintaining IT security compliance processes and supporting tools aligned with frameworks such as CJIS, ISO 27001, and SSAE/SOC standards.
- Partner with IT and business stakeholders to prioritize and remediate security risks.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve security-related security gaps and vulnerabilities.
- Support incident response activities during cybersecurity events and security breaches.
- Assist with security administration functions and provide technical guidance when needed.
- Collaborate with IT teams to improve security awareness and promote security best practices.
- Support IT asset security controls, compliance metrics, and reporting.
- Assist with vulnerability management processes, remediation efforts, and ongoing security assessments.
- Review and respond to security logs, alerts, and notifications generated by enterprise security platforms.
- Monitor and verify timely deployment of security patches and updates across enterprise systems.
- Conduct periodic security assessments and testing to identify and remediate risks.
- Monitor cybersecurity intelligence sources and respond to emerging threats.
- Generate automated and ad hoc security reports utilizing enterprise security tools.
- Assist with application inventory, data flow documentation, and system mapping initiatives.
- Support vendor security oversight and third-party risk management activities.
- Promote cybersecurity awareness initiatives throughout the organization.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Strong understanding of project management and change management principles.
- Experience with networking, server administration, database technologies, scripting, and systems integration.
- Working knowledge of enterprise security technologies and security operations.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and regulatory standards, including CJIS, ISO 27001, and related public sector security requirements.
- Experience working across multiple cybersecurity domains.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Security Configuration
- Security Risk Assessments
- Vulnerability Management
- Information Security Risk Management
- Security Auditing
- Security Monitoring & Incident Response
- High school diploma or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline is preferred.
- At least five (5+) years of hands-on experience administering enterprise security controls in a professional IT environment.
- Strong technical experience with networking, server administration, systems infrastructure, databases, scripting, cloud technologies, or other enterprise technologies.
- Experience supporting enterprise cybersecurity initiatives within a complex IT environment.
- Ability to successfully pass an extensive background investigation and pre-employment screening consistent with public sector employment requirements.
- Experience supporting public sector, government, law enforcement, or other highly regulated environments.
- Professional cybersecurity certifications such as:
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
- Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC)
- Or other related cybersecurity certifications.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
