This job is with Florida Farm Bureau which is the Florida state office for Southern Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company, and we currently have an opening for a Senior Accountant in Gainesville .In this position you will assist accounting department management in the preparation of various financial statements, tax returns, and a variety of accounting reports. Starting salary of $90,000. We offer many benefits including health, dental, vision, PTO, Extended Illness Leave, Pension and matching 401K.

SUMMARY: Assist Accounting Department management in the preparation of various financial statements, tax returns, and a variety of accounting reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and year end statements and financial reports.
  • Reconcile and analyze ledger accounts.
  • Perform all accounting and related reporting for the Investment portfolio(s).
  • Facilitate communication between departments and Accounting to resolve challenges crossing departmental lines.
  • Handle all aspects of Agent compensation, yearend reporting, and 1099s.
  • Remain up to date with industry issues and developments which may have direct impact on the department or the organization.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of accounting systems when and where requested.
  • Act as Supervisor for Accounting employees when and where requested

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university Majoring in Accounting or related field is required
  • CPA is preferred
  • 3 years minimum of relatable experience is preferred

SKILLS/ABILITY
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Demonstrated written communication skills
  • Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills
  • Excellent interpretation of complex statistical data
  • Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products with an emphasis on Excel
