The Omni Ft. Lauderdale Hotel is a 29-story hotel, located at 1950 Eisenhower Blvd, and connected directly to the Broward County Convention. The property offers 801 guest rooms and suites, multiple restaurants, a vibrant rooftop bar, a sprawling pool, spa, and fitness center. The hotel has over 120,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, including a grand ballroom, junior ballroom, 25 breakout rooms and pre-function meeting space with waterfront views.

JOB PURPOSE: This Payroll Generalist role is responsible for the accurate, compliant and timely processing of complex hotel payroll which includes a union CBA. This position combines hands-on payroll expertise with sound judgment, effective escalation management and a strong commitment to employee-focused problem solving. The Payroll Generalist serves as a trusted resource for complex payroll issues, providing guidance and support to management.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Maintain full responsibility and accountability for all functions of the Dayforce payroll process, ensuring payroll is processed accurately, timely and in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Process complex union payrolls accurately and in full compliance with applicable collective bargaining agreements, union requirements and federal/state/local regulations.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll, including the accurate calculation and verification of regular wages, overtime, tips, service charges, bonuses, deductions, adjustments and other compensation-related items.
  • Manage and resolve all payroll adjustments, corrections, exceptions and time-sensitive payroll matters while ensuring appropriate documentation and approvals are maintained.
  • Verify wage calculations, payroll transactions, employee data and supporting documentation prior to payroll completion.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records and ensure the integrity and confidentiality of all payroll and employee information.
  • Assist ASC in managing union payroll activities, including payroll system setup, deduction and benefit administration, reporting, remittances and compliance documentation.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly payroll reporting and analysis, including the preparation, review, reconciliation and distribution of required reports.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly and accurately.
  • Conduct internal reviews and periodic audits of payroll transactions, procedures, and controls; identify potential issues and recommend process improvements to strengthen accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation to support payroll reconciliations, audits, regulatory requirements, union compliance and ongoing operational controls.
  • Train and support managers in the proper use of timekeeping systems, including accurate and timely enrollment of associates in the timeclocks.
  • Perform other payroll-related duties, special projects and responsibilities as assigned to support the effective and efficient operation of the payroll function.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
  • Experience with payroll software such as Dayforce
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations
  • Union payroll experience preferred - including familiarity with collective bargaining agreements, union deductions and reporting requirements
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Excel skills required, including pivot tables, lookups, moderately complex formulas, reconciliations and data analysis to support payroll analytics, audits and project work
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to explain payroll concepts clearly to team members and managers
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

ENVIRONMENT & POSITION ANALYSIS
  • Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Requires the ability to sit for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
  • Requires repetitive motion, including utilizing telephone/computer for an extended period or for an entire shift.
