1. Advanced Configuration Governance (Custom Fields & Permissions)
Field Bloat Rationalization: The ability to audit thousands of custom fields in Jira DC, identify duplicates via database or administration tools, and merge them before moving to Cloud.
Permission Scheme Mapping: Jira Cloud handles global permissions, product access, and project roles differently than Data Center. Look for experience with Atlassian Access and translating complex Active Directory/LDAP permission structures into Cloud security groups.
2. Marketplace App Strategy (Replacement & Reconfiguration)
Feature Parity Mapping: Many on-prem apps do not exist in the Cloud, or have completely different feature sets. The candidate must know how to find alternatives, negotiate cloud-equivalent features, or reconfigure native Cloud tools (like Jira Product Discovery or native Advanced Roadmaps) to replace old apps.
3. Business Coordination & UAT Leadership
User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Orchestration: They need to be comfortable working with business units (HR, Finance, Engineering) to build UAT test scripts, run phased pilot migrations, and coordinate sign-offs from project leads.
