Classification Minimum Requirements:
This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through Other Personnel Services (OPS) or Federal Work-Study (FWS) and must maintain a 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.

Job Description:

Student employees for this position must:

  • Be a current UF degree seeking student registered at a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester
  • Demonstrate a desire and willingness to learn in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Participate in scheduled meetings, trainings, and evaluations
  • Have the ability to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and academic breaks as needed
  • Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a high level of professionalism
  • Be a positive representative of the University of Florida and the Reitz Union
  • Be comfortable assisting large groups of people ranging from young adolescents to older adults.
  • Respond to and assist with emergency situations and building evacuations per department procedures or as instructed by building management staff

Position specific responsibilities:

  • Commit to working at least 2 shifts (10 hours) per week
  • Maintain, organize, and inventory equipment, materials, and workspaces within the ACC
  • Assist with pottery processing, including kiln loading/unloading, glaze dipping, finger sanding, clay cutting, and finished pottery handling (will be trained)
  • Oversee the paint-a-pot area, ensuring proper use and providing guidance to patrons
  • Assist and engage with community members, as well as with socials, camps, and classes
  • Manage customer transactions, including processing card payments and reconciling daily reports
  • Perform laundry and thorough daily cleaning of the entire space to maintain a safe and organized studio
  • Process pottery orders and restock supplies as needed
  • Utilize Microsoft Teams and Excel for communication and administrative tasks
  • Monitor patrons using equipment to ensure they are using equipment safely
  • Complete all training requirements upon being hired in a timely fashion
  • Must be physically able to lift 25 pounds
  • Other duties as assigned

Expected Salary:
$14.00/HR

Required Qualifications:

Preferred:
Although no ceramics experience is necessary to apply and all training will be provided, we prefer student employee candidates who:

  • Demonstrate creative abilities in various forms of crafting or art
  • Have previous experience in customer service
  • Are proficient in verbal and written communication
  • Exhibit prior cashier skills and reconciliation experience
  • Show a strong passion for crafting
  • Hold a CPR and First Aid Certification
